Volunteer Opportunities

The Roughrider Commission solicits support from the community for sponsorships, ticket sales, etc. for about ten days each year. Through hard work and dedication, they spend the other 355 days giving back to their community.

The Roughrider Commission is a nonprofit organization located in Dickinson, ND. The group is composed of dedicated men and women who volunteer their time, energy, and talent coordinating two events that greatly impact the region’s economy. Annually, the Roughrider Commission hosts "Roughrider Days" and the "Ronald McDonald Cabin Fever Benefit".

Roughrider Days, held in conjunction with the 4th of July, includes a three-day PRCA rodeo, headliner concert, parade, demolition derby and fireworks display. The Ronald McDonald Cabin Fever Benefit, held in February, raises much needed funds for the Ronald McDonald House, a temporary "home away from home" serving families of seriously ill children.  In addition to these two events, they also assist the American Petroleum Institute (API) in hosting the API Gumbo Cook-Off each year.

The Roughrider Commission exists because of committed, hardworking volunteers, who through their efforts enrich the lives of the many citizens and businesses throughout the region. Because the Roughrider Commission is a nonprofit organization, funding for the events results primarily from sponsorships and event ticket sales. The success of Roughrider Days and the Ronald McDonald Cabin Fever Benefit significantly impacts the area’s economy. The overall results of the economic impact increases the demand for more committed volunteers.

Although being a volunteer on the Roughrider Commission is a serious undertaking requiring hard work, commitment and compassion, it also offers limitless rewards. When you share your time and talent with our organization you can be assured that you will make a difference in the lives of many. You will meet new friends, improve self-growth, sharpen your networking skills and most importantly, have FUN!
